African Warriors Championship (AWC) was conceptualized by Grand Master Richard Crabbe de-Bordes.

With mixed martial arts tournaments topping the box office and even dwarfing boxing and many sports in Sports venues and prime time TV around the world, there was a need for Africa to cut a Nish of this lucrative sports/entertainment market for herself.
This reality sports/entertainment show is the first of its kind on the continent for African pugilists, martial artists, boxers, indigenous fighters etc.The core idea for the show is to find an answer for sports fans to these irresistible questions: "Can a wrestler beat a boxer? Can a karateka beat an indigenous African fighter? Etc" Who will emerge victorious and be Africa’s Great Warrior.
The De-Bordes Foundation of Combat Science in collaboration with a Prime time African TV and supported by the Ghana Kick Boxing Authority which is a statutory body of the Ghana Sports Council will bring to viewers the African Warrior Championship (AWC).
It is with pride and humility to acknowledge the Ga Mantse, Abeasuman King Tackie Tawiah III as the patron of this phenomenon.
By the rules of the reality show, the contesting warriors will live under one roof, they will train, co-habitate, groomed and socialize.
This will show character, discipline and resilience that will put them on the way to becoming Africa’s Great Warrior supported by input of distinguished judges and the general public.
The DBFCS’ idea of the African Warriors Championship (AWC) is to turn rough diamonds into gem stones, the theme is… Fight In Competition Not in Conflict.
AWC will afford countless individuals the opportunity to rise above obscurity, poverty and human degradation. In becoming champions, they will gain wealth and fortune but also give hope to members of their community and be great sources of local, national and even international pride. Their stories from rags to riches will be an example for countless others to emulate. This new found hope will take African pugilists who are sometimes due to circumstances used as hired hands in conflict theatres out into worldly accepted sporting theatre.
Out of the African population of 922 million people, the De-Bordes Foundation of Combat Science will surely find fighters of great tenacity and ‘to be’ warriors to take on the world’s best. Africa’s unfortunate circumstance of war, strive poverty and the likes in this scenario will turn Africans into formidable foes in the ring. We are coming to get ya........
The rise of the number of spectators, fans and athletes in the mixed martial arts can be linked to the power of the media. The international growth of the sport is often compared to the international growth of similar sports, such as boxing. In many ways MMA, has overtaken boxing in popularity in The USA and other parts of the world. An example of this emergence is the increasing number of viewers the sport is getting around the world with it's television coverage. In ‘2006, an MMA company broke the record of the pay per view industries all time single year revenue, surpassing WWE (world wrestling entertainment) and Boxing'.
Africa has proven itself in Boxing, Football now it is Mixed Martial Arts. The combination of two legendary fighters, Professor Azumah Nelson of boxing fame and Silat’s own Grandmaster Richard Crabbe de-Bordes are surely the catalysts to take
Africa there.
